Lindside,W.Va. — The James Monroe Mavericks football team began the 2017 season last Monday in Monroe County as fall practice has started. The Mavericks must replace some key components from the last two seasons in which James Monroe went 17-3 in the regular season and made the playoffs both seasons. They have been a known name in Class AA football for sometime around the state.
Grant Mohler is still in Lindside and looks to help the Mavs stay right on track in 2017. The schedule once again will be a test for the Mavericks, but they have proven time and time again to be up to the task.
The schedule includes Bluefield, Princeton, Greenbrier East, Nicholas County and Independence to name a few. The Point Pleasant Big Blacks also come to Monroe County this fall as they are added to this year’s schedule. The Big Blacks are always in the Class AA chase as well.
